Rumer Alm by E-Bike – A Getaway in the Tyrolean Mountains

by Hotel Sailer

The Rumer Alm – Tyrolean Alpine Flavours High Above Innsbruck

The Rumer Alm is located above Rum at the foot of Innsbruck’s Nordkette mountain range and is a popular destination for hikers, mountain bikers and families. Surrounded by meadows, forests and the Tyrolean mountains, the alpine hut offers beautiful views over Innsbruck and the Inn Valley from its sunny terrace. The menu features traditional Tyrolean dishes such as Tiroler Gröstl, Schlutzkrapfen and Speckknödel, as well as homemade cakes and refreshing drinks. On weekends, roast chicken and grilled pork knuckles are also served.

The Rumer Alm is an ideal destination or stopover for a hike or e-bike tour around Innsbruck. Several routes lead up to the hut, combining outdoor activity, nature, mountain panoramas and traditional Tyrolean cuisine. If you want to leave the city behind for a few hours, this is the perfect place for a relaxing break in the mountains.

How to Get to the Rumer Alm

The Rumer Alm can be reached from Innsbruck and Rum in several ways – by e-bike, mountain bike or on foot.

We started our tour in Innsbruck and first took bus line J to Hungerburg. E-bikes can be transported on the bike rack at the back of the bus. Depending on available space and the time of day, bikes may also be taken on board, with a maximum of two bicycles permitted per designated multi-purpose area. From Hungerburg, we continued by e-bike towards the Rumer Alm. The route takes you through the Tyrolean mountain landscape above Innsbruck, with beautiful views of the Inn Valley along the way.

If you prefer to start the entire tour by bike, you can also set off directly from Innsbruck or Rum. Mountain bike route 513 connects the Rumer Alm to the Innsbruck region’s mountain bike network and follows a well-maintained forest road up to the alpine hut.

The Rumer Alm is also easily accessible on foot. A popular starting point is the Naturpark Karwendel car park in Rum. From there, the trail follows the forest road up to the hut. Allow approximately 1.5 hours for the ascent. As the route does not involve any major technical difficulties, it is also well suited to families.

Whether you arrive by e-bike, mountain bike or on foot, a sunny terrace with magnificent views over the Inn Valley and Innsbruck, traditional Tyrolean cuisine and a relaxing break surrounded by nature await you at the top.
