Sustainability at the Hotel Sailer Innsbruck
Sustainable moments of well-being on holiday in Innsbruck
Our traditional hotel is located in the heart of the Tyrolean Alps and has been synonymous with genuine hospitality for generations. But tradition alone is not enough for us: we are looking ahead and want to protect our beautiful surroundings – for today, for tomorrow, for future generations. That is why we have set out to obtain the Austrian Ecolabel and make our hotel more sustainable step by step. For us, sustainability does not mean sacrifice, but conscious enjoyment and a holiday in Tyrol that is good for nature, people and the region.
Measures at Hotel Sailer Innsbruck for a greener future
Energy-efficient travel
We use state-of-the-art technology to save energy:
- LED lighting throughout the house
- Motion detectors and energy-efficient appliances – wherever it makes sense and is possible
- Heating only in winter, cooling only in summer (air conditioning max. 22°C).
- This allows us to reduce our electricity consumption without compromising on comfort.
Enjoyment with regional origins: sustainability in the kitchen and restaurant
For us, regionality is more than just a trend; it is our conviction. That is why we are partners of ‘Bewusst Tirol’ and work closely with local producers:
- Meat & sausage products: Beermeister butcher's shop, Innsbruck
- Fish: Frischgenuss Familie Steixner, Innsbruck
- Potatoes: Genussbauernhof Kuprian, Ranggen
- Jam & preserves: Darbo, Stans
- Milk & dairy products: Tirol Milch, Zillertaler Heumilch Sennerei, Wörgl/Fügen
In the à la carte restaurant, cloth napkins and tablecloths create a stylish yet sustainable setting for your culinary experience.
We offer vegan and vegetarian options: from breakfast to restaurant meals to seminar catering.
Sustainably designed seminars in Innsbruck
We also consider the environment at conferences:
- Water in glass carafes and bottles
- Notepads made from recycled materials
- Conscious break-time refreshments with regional, seasonal ingredients
Sustainability at reception and the digital office
At reception, we use modern, paperless solutions to offer you greater convenience and protect the environment:
- Digital guest folder: All important information is conveniently available on your smartphone or tablet before you arrive.
- Digital invoice: For the sake of the environment, printouts are only provided on request.
- Paperless check-in: Simply sign the registration form with a digital signature.
- Green leisure activities: For a sustainable stay, we can give you tips on hiking, bike hire, the Innsbruck Card and much more. Our team will be happy to advise you at any time.
Sustainability in the room
- Environmentally certified cleaning products from regional company Hollu
- Towels changed only on request – simply leave them on the floor
- Opt out of room cleaning: before arrival via pre-stay email or during your stay via our digital guest folder
- Refillable soap & shower gel dispensers with environmentally certified products from ADA
- Water-saving shower heads and fittings
- New windows with noise protection & insulation for a peaceful night's sleep and less energy loss
Regional economy & Skilled trades
We support the regional economy and work closely with local businesses, craftsmen and artists. Many of our decorations and art objects come from local artists. In this way, we bring a piece of Tyrol into our hotel and at the same time promote regional creativity and added value.
Circular economy & Waste separation
- Waste separation for guests will be available soon
- Reusable containers are used wherever possible
Carbon footprint
We are aware that every stay leaves its mark. Our goal is to keep this to a minimum. To this end, we continuously measure and optimise our energy and resource consumption. We also pay attention to environmentally conscious behaviour in our daily operations. We reduce our paper consumption, rely on sustainable and regional products with short transport routes, use environmentally certified cleaning agents and reduce our water and electricity consumption. In this way, we are constantly working to avoid emissions and make our operations climate-friendly in the long term. You will soon find a transparent presentation of our carbon footprint here.
Green travel – relaxed & environmentally friendly
Sustainability begins with your journey to us. Our hotel is located just a few steps away from Innsbruck Central Station – it couldn't be more central. This means you can travel here comfortably by train or public transport and reduce your carbon footprint right from the start. Those travelling by train also benefit from:
- Short walking distance from the train platform to the hotel (less than 5 minutes)
- Excellent bus and tram connections right outside the front door
- If you stay for 2 nights or more, you can explore the region free of charge on public transport with the Welcome Card. You can leave your car behind with peace of mind. Innsbruck and its mountain world can be explored in a wonderfully sustainable way.
Sustainable measures in line with the SDGs
Sustainability knows no boundaries – it connects us worldwide. That is why we at Hotel Sailer align our efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Learn more.
Our focus is on energy efficiency, climate protection, regional responsibility and social cohesion.
