AUDIOVERSUM – Discover the Fascinating World of Hearing
AUDIOVERSUM is an interactive museum dedicated to hearing, located in the heart of Innsbruck. As a science centre, it combines medicine, technology, education and art to create a unique experience unlike any other in Europe. Visitors of all ages can get actively involved at a variety of interactive stations, navigate through the human ear in 3D, track down invisible birds by following their sounds and discover how our sense of hearing works.

Main Exhibition: “Adventure of Hearing”
In the main exhibition, “Adventure of Hearing”, you can interactively discover how our sense of hearing works. Navigate through the human ear in 3D, explore spatial sound and try out a variety of interactive stations. Complex medical and technical concepts are presented in a clear and entertaining way.
Binaural Game – Locating Sounds in Space
The binaural game takes you on an acoustic search for invisible birds. Through headphones, you will hear birdsong coming from different directions and try to locate and free the birds by following their sounds. It is a fun way to put your spatial hearing to the test.
Hair Cells – How Our Hearing Works
Oversized hair cells clearly demonstrate the important role these sensory cells play in hearing. Touching them creates a melody. By bending the hair cells, individual frequency ranges can be activated or deactivated, allowing you to experience how the loss of hair cells may affect hearing.
Timeline – Milestones in Hearing Technology
The interactive timeline guides you through the most important developments in hearing technology. It provides fascinating insights into medical and technological advances and includes a quiz where you can test your newly acquired knowledge. Some questions are easy, while others present a little more of a challenge.
Art to Hear
Located in the AUDIOVERSUM foyer, “Art to Hear” combines visual impressions with stories and sounds. By scanning QR codes with your smartphone or using the headphones provided, you can learn more about a variety of concepts related to the world of hearing.
Special Exhibition: “How We Learn”
How is knowledge created, and what happens in our brains when we learn? The special exhibition“How We Learn”brings current findings from neuroscience, psychology and education to life through human brain specimens, models, films, tests and games. It also demonstrates why lifelong learning is important for our mental health and quality of life.
Special Exhibition: “Brain Gym AI”
In the special exhibition“Brain Gym AI”, visitors can train their concentration, reaction speed, orientation, coordination and logical thinking. Artificial intelligence adapts the exercises to each person’s performance, while the COCO cognitive compass records their individual progress. The exhibition can be experienced at AUDIOVERSUM until September 2026.
MED-EL World – Medical Technology for Better Hearing
MED-EL World provides insights into the development of modern implantable hearing systems. High-tech installations, videos and historical documents present important milestones in medical technology and explain how innovative hearing solutions can help overcome communication barriers and improve the quality of life of people with hearing loss.
Just Four Minutes from Hotel Sailer
AUDIOVERSUM is located at Wilhelm-Greil-Straße 23 and is only around a four-minute walk from Hotel Sailer. Follow Adamgasse towards Salurner Straße, turn right and then turn right again onto Wilhelm-Greil-Straße. After a few metres, you will see the science centre on your right.
Thanks to its central location, a visit can easily be included in a day of sightseeing in Innsbruck. AUDIOVERSUM is an ideal destination for families and anyone looking for an exciting experience in any weather.
