A Trip to the Arzler Alm

by Hotel Sailer

From Innsbruck straight into the Mountains

Here in Innsbruck, the mountains begin right outside your doorstep. A relaxed yet rewarding hike takes you directly to the Arzler Alm – a true Tyrolean gem located at the foot of the Nordkette mountain range.

Easy, close to nature, and full of flavor

The hike starts at the Hungerburg, which is easily accessible by the Hungerburg funicular, by car, or with bus line J. From there, a well-maintained trail leads to the Arzler Alm in about one hour. The route is easy to walk and therefore ideal for beginners, families with children, or anyone looking for a relaxed hike.

Much of the trail runs through forested terrain, offering pleasant shade during the summer months. Along the way, there are frequent scenic views over the Inn Valley.

A Culinary Break at the Arzler Alm

After the short hike, it’s time for a well-deserved reward: the Arzler Alm, located at 1,067 meters above sea level, welcomes you with Tyrolean hospitality and a menu that leaves nothing to be desired. Whether you prefer hearty traditional dishes, vegetarian delights, or vegan options – there’s something for everyone.

In summer, comfortable deck chairs on the terrace invite you to relax. Sunshine on your face, a cold drink in hand, and a view of the surrounding mountains – this is what vacation feels like.

A Paradise for Families

For families, the Alm is a true paradise: a large playground and a petting zoo bring joy to children of all ages. Rabbits, chickens, and pigs are waiting to be admired and gently petted.

Reaching the Alm by Bike

It’s not just hikers who are drawn to the Arzler Alm – cyclists also appreciate the well-maintained forest road that leads all the way up to the Alm. It’s also ideal for an e-bike tour. If you enjoy cycling, you’ll find a pleasant route with a gentle incline and plenty of fun along the way.

Getting There from Innsbruck

The best starting point for your trip to the Arzler Alm is the Hungerburg, which is easy to reach:

By Hungerburg Funicular: From the city center (Congress Innsbruck), the modern cable railway takes you up to Hungerburg in just a few minutes – with great panoramic views along the way.

By Bus: Bus line J runs regularly from the city center toward Hungerburg. The nearest bus stop is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Simply get off at the “Hungerburg” stop. The well-marked trail to the Alm starts right there.

By Car: If you’re driving, you can park directly at the Hungerburg. Please note the designated parking areas.

Our Conclusion

The Arzler Alm is more than just a hiking destination – it’s a place to arrive, unwind, and enjoy. Whether you come with family, friends, or on your own: this hike is always worth it.
