A Hike to Höttinger Alm – Alpine Nature Above the Rooftops of Innsbruck

by Hotel Sailer

Höttinger Alm – Traditional Tyrolean Hospitality with Panoramic Views over Innsbruck

Höttinger Alm is one of the best-known and most popular mountain huts around Innsbruck. Perched at nearly 1,500 metres above sea level, it offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Inn Valley and the surrounding Tyrolean Alps. Whether you're a hiker, mountain biker, or trail runner, the hut is a favourite destination for anyone looking to combine outdoor adventure with a relaxing alpine break.

On the spacious sun terrace, guests can enjoy traditional Tyrolean home-style cuisine and regional specialties while taking in the spectacular mountain scenery. Thanks to its unique location high above the rooftops of Innsbruck, Höttinger Alm is one of the region's most impressive viewpoints and a perfect excursion destination for both locals and visitors.

How to Get to Höttinger Alm

Höttinger Alm is easily accessible from Innsbruck city centre. Take the Hungerburg funicular or Bus Line J to Hungerburg, which serves as the ideal starting point for the hike.

From there, several well-marked hiking trails lead to Höttinger Alm. One of the most popular routes passes via Umbrüggler Alm, offering scenic forest paths and beautiful viewpoints along the way. The hike from Hungerburg (approx. 868 m) to Höttinger Alm (1,487 m) takes around 2.5 hours of walking time.

Alternatively, you can choose the route via Arzler Alm. This option is slightly longer and takes approximately 3 hours of walking time to reach Höttinger Alm.

For the complete hike from Hungerburg to Höttinger Alm and back, allow around 4.5 hours of walking time, excluding breaks and meal stops. If you plan to stop at Umbrüggler Alm or Arzler Alm along the way, be sure to allow additional time to fully enjoy your excursion.
