The city's infrastructure plays a significant part in cycling's popularity. Well-thought-out solutions in road construction, cycling zones, bike parking facilities and signposts all make cycling in Innsbruck an extremely attractive option.

The mountainous landscape of the surrounding Tyrolean countryside alone exerts an almost irresistible attraction. The countryside offers a wonderful playground, not just for hikers, mountain climbers and golfers, but also for cyclists and mountain bikers.

A total of 115 km of mountain bike trails run through the Innsbruck region and its 25 holiday villages. The MTB region features difficulty levels ranging from 600 to 2,250 metres in altitude to satisfy every requirement. If you're looking for an adrenaline kick, there are plenty of trails and downhills on the Hungerburg single trail or the single trail on Innsbruck's local mountain, the Nordkette.

You don't have to have to tackle mountainous terrain right away, however: try the Inn cycling path and its subsidiary routes for more leisurely cycling or cycling with children.
